The restaurant is centered around fresh, locally grown foods prepared to order in full view of customers at a variety of internationally themed stations. The aromas and sounds of cooking along with the energy and bustle of a European street market, within Anthony’s Kitchen provide these exact theatrics. And the setting of a country inn or Mother Europe, further complement the mix.
“I like to refer to it as a food theme park," says Mr. Mayne, Executive Vice President of the Toronto based Headquarters who is leading the company's entry into the United States and shortly into Europe. The concept itself was invented early 2005 in Toronto, Canada.
Every customer will have the ultimate experience in dining, whether it is eat-in, take-out or being catered to a local business. European market style pathways patterned with stunning décor, lead diners around awning-covered stations and wooden tables that make up the food stations. Choices include a herb infused Rotisserie Chicken, Wood Fired Pizza Oven, Seafood Station, Mediterranean Grill, Salad Bar, Pasta Island, Espresso & Coffee Bar, all complemented with a selection of fine European Deserts.
Anthony’s Kitchen will change its specials daily and sometimes during the day to serve guests the best food it can get fresh and in season. "It's a never-ending variety of food," Mr. Mayne says. ”It would be practical for a person to eat twice a day, seven times a week at Anthony’s Kitchen without having the same dish twice!"
Food station chefs are responsible for every detail, from food presentation to employee management and profit.
"Customers can stay at their table as long as they like, even if they just have a glass of wine or a beer while reading the newspaper”, Mr. Mayne says. However, he banks on the fact that the energy present in the restaurant will entice everyone to buy, especially given the fact that the average price point per entrée is only $10 to $12 dollars. Employees shout out the specialties of the day, just as workers in an open-air market would yell to their patrons.
And, he continues, there are no kitchens. Customers can see and smell the food being prepared. “Anthony’s Kitchen is a total interaction between everybody," - Mr. Mayne.
The Anthony’s Kitchen restaurant has a master plan of 400+ locations and plans to expand aggressively in Canada and the United States, Europe, Australia, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. “We are also in the process of selling master franchises to some of these countries to qualified buyers, plus we are only opening in triple A locations.”
In addition to the Anthony’s Kitchen restaurant, which is approximately 2,300 sq. ft., there are two more operations that are both optional.
A luxurious and modern chic martini bar that has a contemporary look and yet at the same time gives the customer a striking sophisticated and meticulous old world elegance.
Anthony’s Kitchen Express, where items are still being prepared before the customer but averages approximately 300 to 450 sq. ft. in size and is suitable for a food court location.
